 Cheesy

Pat and I are taking a 3-day mini-vacation on Tennessee's Cumberland Plateau, an offshoot of the Appalachian Mountain Range. ... Some gorgeous waterfalls up here! We shot three today and and several more locations lined up for the next two days.

I'll post video and frame grabs after I get back (we are in a motel in Harriman, TN tonight)... but below are photos of my Sony V1U in action and me.

These photos are from Middle Fork Falls near Oliver Springs, TN.

Having fun!

another GREAT day of shooting waterfalls up on the Cumberland Plateau, albeit we are worn out and can barely move... bagged six good ones today.

tonight, we're in a motel in Cookeville, Tennessee.

attached, four photos (click on them to see full six)

1. Middle Falls at Burgess State Park near Sparta, TN.

2. Pat running Camera 2, a Sony HC1.

3. This ranger has a REAL snakeskin band for his hat, and it's LIVE!

4. Camera 1, my Sony V1U in action!

On the road again for URTV.

Day 3 of the Cumberland Plateau Waterfall Expedition saw us bagging SEVEN waterfalls ... for a total of 16 on the trip. Since each waterfall requires driving to a remote location, hiking in with our equipment, setting up the equipment, getting proper coverage of the falls using two cameras, breaking down, hiking back out, driving to the next remote location -- doing seven falls in one day means we started REAL early and finished LATE ... but we did it and still managed the 4-hour drive home last night. We have several hours of the most glorious waterfall footage you can imagine!

More will follow, including some posted video of the falls we saw.

Pics below:

1. Pat (in the red shirt WAY down there) shooting Twin Falls in Tennessee's Rock Island State Park.

2. Ralph running the V1U up on the high ground (Pat, as seen in the previous pic) is just inside the microphone cord loop).

3. Using my Zoom H4 to record forest sounds above Lost Falls on the Cumberland Plateau.

The above were all photos from a small digital still camera we carry along ... below are actual frame grabs from the video tapes as I read them into the system for editing.

1. Me at Potter Falls near Wartburg, TN.

2. Another stand-up intro with Pat in the background ... this is Lower Potter Falls.

3. Ever seen a guy ride an ATV UP a waterfall? You'll see several in the segment on Pilot Falls!

4. Pat at Wildcat Falls near Sparta, TN.

5. Indiana Jones has nothing on Video Ralph when it comes to finding ancient ruins and danger!

and more later.

click on photos to make larger.

and some more screen grabs:

1. Twin Falls in Tennessee's Rock Island State Park

2. Rapid Ralph and the Lieutenant-Colonel at Lost Creek Falls high in the mountains of the Cumberland Plateau. Getting to places like this is EXACTLY why you need a vehicle with four-wheel drive shock and awe.

3. Getting up close and personal with a waterfall on a hot Sunday afternoon at Tennessee's Fall Creek Falls State Park.

4. Falls Creek Falls at 256 ft. is claimed to be the highest sheer drop waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains.

5. A wader at the foot of Falls Creek Falls.
